I just wanted to remind everyone on our Nebraska Agribusiness Club List that we are getting together for a Social Outing at Zipline Tap Room in Fallbrook, on Thursday, April 18th from 4:00-6:00 PM.  We will have the marketing director and president of AKRS, as our guest speaker when they can make it over, more information below.  Let me know if you plan on attending?  But it is a drop in event so come bring a friend and stay as long as you are able.

NABC SOCIAL-Open to current and prospective members!  This is our big recruiting night for new members!!!  We will hold a 2-hour social (your first 2-3 drinks are on the club) on Thursday, April 18th in the Bar Area of the new Zipline Tap Room in Fallbrook.  We will also have some executives from AKRS join us for drinks and share a bit about their business and their business venture into AKRS Beer.  The club will also order some appetizers for everyone to share.  Please invite prospective members to this meeting.

March 4th Lunch-n-Learn with James Schnable, UNL Professor, Nebraska Corn Checkoff Presidential Chair

The Lunch-n-Learn for March will be held at the Lancaster Extension Education Center,
444 Cherrycreek Road, Lincoln, NE 68528.  Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the program starting at 12:10 p.m.
Meetings and lunches are included with your membership to the Nebraska Agribusiness Club. Please bring your 2024 club annual membership dues for $100 to the meeting.
If you don’t plan to join as a member in 2024 then the lunch meeting cost is $20.

Our speaker will be James Schnable, UNL Professor, Nebraska Corn Checkoff Presidential Chair.  Professor Schnable is in the Department of Agronomy & Horticulture at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln where his work focuses on maize and sorghum genomics, genetics, and genotype by environment interaction. Students in the Schnable Lab collaborate closely with faculty in statistics, computer science, or engineering. Schnable has helped found three startups commercializing bioinformatic, quantitative genetic, or digital agricultural technologies. His research is currently supported by the US Department of Agriculture, the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, and the Nebraska Corn Growers.

February 5th Lunch-n-Learn with Jackson Stansell, CEO of Sentinel Fertigation

The Lunch-n-Learn will be held at the Lancaster Extension Education Center, 444 Cherrycreek Road, Lincoln, NE 68528. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the program starting at 12:10 p.m. Meetings and lunches, are included with your membership to the Nebraska Agribusiness Club. Our speaker will be Jackson Stansell, CEO of Sentinel Fertigation.  His company based in Lincoln is an agricultural startup founded in 2021 that uses drone- and satellite-collected imagery to predict when corn and other crops need fertilization — saving growers money and reducing environmental impact. Reminder our next meeting will be on Monday, January 8th, because of the New Year’s Holiday. Our speaker will be Allan Zumpfe, CEO of Farmers Cooperative for our Lunch-n-Learn to start the 2024 Year.

The Lunch-n-Learn will be held at the Lancaster Extension Education Center, 444 Cherrycreek Road, Lincoln, NE 68528. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the program starting at 12:10 p.m. Meetings and lunches, are included with your membership to the Nebraska Agribusiness Club. Please bring your check or cash to renew or start your club membership for the 2024 year.

I also wanted to announce that Dayle Williamson, Gerald Clausen, and Loren Isom from the club have agreed to join the Nebraska Agribusiness Club Board in 2024.  We could still use more board members to help with club memberships, speakers, and lining up lunches for our meetings, please talk to me or one of the other club board members.

Our speaker will be with Allan Zumpfe, the Chief Executive Officer for Farmers Cooperative which has over 70 locations spread throughout southeast Nebraska and northeast Kansas. Allan will share with us the history of the cooperative, and how they help farmers and livestock producers who are also their members reach their goals every year.

Our speaker will be with Kris Bousquet the executive director of the Nebraska State Dairy Association & Director of Livestock Development at the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture (AFAN) in Nebraska. Kris will tell us about a number of extensive Dairy projects planned and currently operating in our state. Also about a new milk-based product called MOO’V™ and much of the milk is grown here in Nebraska at https://realdari.com/ There are a lot of exciting Dairy and Livestock projects happening here in Nebraska and Kris will share what he can about those projects and the impact they are having on our rural communities.

Plus different ways to produce soybeans more efficiently.

Our speaker will be Nebraska Department of Agriculture Deputy Director & Nebraska LEAD Alumni, Hilary Miracle. She will talk about The Nebraska Department of Agriculture’s (NDA) purpose is twofold: to encourage and promote the interest of agriculture through advocacy and education.

April 3rd Lunch-n-Learn with The Nebraska Water Center Director- Chittaranjan Ray, Ph.D., P.E. & Daniel D. Snow, Ph.D.

The Lunch-n-Learn will be held at the Lancaster Extension Education Center, 444 Cherrycreek Road, Lincoln, NE 68528.

Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the program starting at 12:10 p.m. Meeting lunches, are included with your membership to the Nebraska Agribusiness Club. Please join us as a guest or with your 2023 Agribusiness Club Membership. Non-members’ or the guest fee for the lunch meeting is $20.

Our speakers will be Chittaranjan Ray, Ph.D., P.E. & Daniel D. Snow, Ph.D., of the Nebraska Water Center (NWC). They will talk about the research, outreach, and training the Nebraska Water Center performs to help Nebraskans track water quality issues around our state. These issues can be found with minerals in our soil, and chemicals added for the growth of crops and grasses in our state that are found in our ground, surface, and well water in our state. NWC is supported through state and federal grant projects but also from public and private donations.

February 6th Meeting at RealmFive in Lincoln

This month’s Lunch-n-Learn will be held on the road at RealmFive https://realmfive.com/about-us/ office on 3300 Folkways Circle, Lincoln, NE 68504. Our speaker will be RealmFive’s President and CEO Steve Tippery.

RealmFive is an Ag Technology company that assists farmers with their technological needs when dealing with many data inputs and outputs.  Today RealmFive is one of the most trusted names in on-farm connectivity and data management. The company continues to expand and has recently highlighted partnerships with Prairieland Partners, AGPROfessionals, John Deere, and Climate Corporation. Steve will give us a quick tour of their facility and then talk to us about the projects and how they help farmers be more productive and profitable in their operations.

Lunch will begin at the regular time, 11:30 a.m., with the program starting at 12:10 p.m. Meeting registration, which includes lunch, is included with your membership to the Nebraska Agribusiness Club. We are still honoring all memberships from 2022 but bring your $100 checks for 2023 Agribusiness Club Membership. Non-members must pay $20 per meeting.

We are still honoring all memberships from 2022 but bring your $100 checks your 2023 Agribusiness Club Membership. Non-members must pay $20 per meeting.

Our speaker will be Al Juhnke, who has been the Executive Director of the Nebraska Pork Producers Association since January 2016. In this role, he serves as the organization’s chief executive officer, spokesperson, and oversees all administrative and management needs. Al will share with us the state of the Pork Producers in Nebraska and the benefits these livestock producers bring to our agricultural economy.
